Macsen graduated from the University of Bath in 2023 with a BSc (Hons) Natural Sciences degree in chemistry and physics. During his undergraduate degree, he completed a placement year at the Central Laser Facility and completed his final year project on semiconductor precursors within the Johnson Group.
